Small Business Sales Still Faltering

There has been a general optimism among Americans about the potential for the recovery of our economy. However, in the small business realm, sales are still slumping.

Although this probably does not entirely dash American's hopes of a relatively quickly recovering economy, an index rated by the National Federation of Independent Business shows an index decrease in all areas. Profit margins have lowered, and pressure on small business pricing has causes gross sales to decline.

However, this may be only a temporary setback. The economy has showed a general trend of improvement, notably in the stock market, which is on a slow but steady uphill climb. There is a good possibility that as the economy and the stock market continues to improve, the sales and profit margins of small businesses will follow suit.

Fortunately the economy in America did not fare near as bad as some countries – the bankruptcy and subsequent collapse of Iceland's banks caused the economic crisis of Iceland to be one of, if not the absolute, worst economic crisis in history for the country. The economic crisis of the United States, on the other hand, is not even remotely as severe as one of its darkest economic times – The Great Depression of 1929. If Americans had any idea of the stark contrast, the very gratefulness of knowing might hypothetically have been enough to cause an increase in the United States economy.
